Annual herbs, stems erect or ascending, up to 25 cm high, branches glabrous except hirsute at nodes.
Leaves sessile, oblong to elliptic, 10–40 mm long, 6–20 mm wide, pinnately nerved, apex rounded to obtuse, base cuneate, margins serrate with aristate teeth, glabrous or sometimes sparsely hispid below.
Flowers in terminal bracteate racemes; pedicels longer than the subtending bracts, 1–5 mm long. Calyx cleft to near the base, 4–6 mm long; lobes subulate, sparsely ciliate. Corolla reddish white or pale blue, 6–8 mm long. Stamens 2, posterior, fertile; staminodes 2, anterior, filiform, curved at apex.
Capsule cylindrical, much longer than the persistent calyx, 8–15 mm long.

台灣 : in moist paddy fields and open forests at low to middle elevations.
世界 : Nepal, India, Myanmar, Indochina, southern China, Ryukyu, Malesia, New Guinea, and Australia.
